Lunenburg (Public Port)

Lunenburg, NS · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Lunenburg Harbour (Atlantic Ocean, South Shore)

Lunenburg is a Transport Canada-owned public port on the Atlantic Ocean's South Shore of Nova Scotia, centred on the historic working waterfront of the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg. It is a traditional fishing and boatbuilding harbour serving the regional lobster, scallop and groundfish fleets, with wharves (e.g. Zwicker Wharf, Shipyard Wharf, Fisheries Museum Wharf) supporting commercial fishing vessels, marine services, heritage vessels (home port of the schooner Bluenose II) and recreational/tourism traffic. The federal public-port assets are listed under Transport Canada's Atlantic Region Ports Program; day-to-day waterfront and marina operations are managed by Build Nova Scotia (a provincial Crown corporation) as the Lunenburg Waterfront Marina.
