Goldboro LNG (proposed, abandoned)
Goldboro, NS · Private · Indigenous-affiliated · Formerly Pieridae Energy · Isaac's Harbour / Country Harbour, Atlantic coast (Eastern Shore), Guysborough County
Goldboro LNG was a proposed natural gas liquefaction plant and marine export terminal at Goldboro, Guysborough County, on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, at the entrance of Country Harbour and Isaac's Harbour on the Atlantic coast. Proposed by Pieridae Energy (Canada) Limited, the two-train facility would have received, liquefied and exported nominal 10 Mtpa of LNG with on-site storage of roughly 690,000 m3 across three tanks, fed by the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline; Uniper had signed a 20-year, 5 Mtpa offtake agreement. It received Nova Scotia environmental approval (conditional, March 2014) but never reached a final investment decision; Pieridae shelved it in 2021 and formally abandoned it in November 2023 after about 11 years. In July 2024 Pieridae sold the LNG subsidiary, land and permits for roughly C$12 million to Cavvy Energy Ltd, a Nova Scotia entity tied to Sam Roch-Perks of the Simply Blue Group. The project was never built and no marine operations exist at the site.
