This page covers how the Canadian Maritime Registry, operated by InBridge AI, handles personal information. Information about the companies listed in the registry works differently, and is covered at the bottom.
What we collect
When you create an account:your email address and password, held by Supabase, which runs our database and authentication. Passwords are hashed, so we never see them. Optionally a display name and a full name, if you add them. Your newsletter choice, along with when and where you made it, which is how we can prove consent under Canada's anti-spam legislation. Your home port, if you pick one.
When you become a member: payment is handled by Stripe, so your card details never reach us. We store the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your subscription status, and your renewal date, which is what tells the site your membership is active.
When you browse:Google Analytics and Vercel's analytics tell us how the registry is used, what people search for, and how the site performs. Google Analytics only sets cookies and collects usage data after you accept the consent banner. Until then it runs in a cookieless mode that records no personal identifiers. Vercel's analytics are cookieless by design. Your consent choice is stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
When you write to us: the name, email address, and message you submit reach us as an email through Resend, and we keep the correspondence so we can follow up.
What we do with it
We use it to run your account, give you the access you paid for, reply when you write, send the newsletter if you asked for it, and understand in aggregate how the registry is used so we can make it better. That is the whole list. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
Who else handles it
The providers that run the site: Supabase (accounts and data), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and Google Analytics (usage). They process data on our behalf, and some of them store it outside Canada. We share personal information with no one else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open. Closing your account cancels your membership and ends your access, and we keep a minimal record of the account so our own history stays consistent. If you want everything erased, write to us and we will do it, apart from records we are required to keep, such as payment records.
Your choices
- Change your name, your newsletter preference, or your password anytime on your account page.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter there, or from any newsletter email.
- Decline analytics on the consent banner. If you accepted and changed your mind, clearing this site's data in your browser brings the banner back.
- Ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, by writing to us.
Companies in the registry
The registry catalogues organizations, not private individuals: ports, companies, and the business contact details they publish, such as office addresses, general phone numbers, and role-based email addresses. If you are responsible for a listed company and want something corrected or removed, request a change and we will take care of it.
Changes and contact
We update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top tells you when that last happened. Questions about any of it? Send us a general inquiry.
