Roberts Bay Port (Hope Bay Project)
Roberts Bay (near Cambridge Bay), NU · Private · Agnico Eagle Mines Limited · Roberts Bay / Arctic Ocean (Coronation Gulf / Queen Maud Gulf area), Kitikmeot region
Roberts Bay Port is a private mine-support marine facility serving Agnico Eagle's Hope Bay gold project in Nunavut's Kitikmeot region, located on the Arctic coast roughly 125-160 km southwest of Cambridge Bay and about 685 km northeast of Yellowknife. The port consists of an expanded jetty with adjacent laydown areas and fuel storage, and is being upgraded to unload up to nine vessels during the six-to-eight-week annual open-water sealift season. Because the site has no road access, virtually all construction materials, fuel, and mining equipment for the Doris, Madrid, and Boston deposits arrive via this port by sealift or by air. The facility is wholly owned and operated by Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, supporting a project approved in May 2026 for an underground mine and 6,000 tpd mill producing roughly 400,000-435,000 ounces of gold annually over an initial 11-year mine life.
