Private bulk ore terminal owned and operated by Rio Tinto Fer et Titane (RTFT, Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium Quebec Operations) on the St. Lawrence at Havre-Saint-Pierre. Ilmenite (iron-titanium oxide) from the Lac Tio open-pit mine — described as the world's largest solid ilmenite deposit, in operation since 1950 — is crushed on site and hauled roughly 42-43 km by RTFT's own railway to the terminal, which serves as the only land access route to the mine. The terminal loads the ore onto ore carriers for the ~880 km voyage to RTFT's Critical Minerals and Metallurgical Complex at Sorel-Tracy, where it feeds titanium dioxide and iron/metal production.
