Blanc-Sablon Port
Blanc-Sablon, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Blanc-Sablon Bay / Strait of Belle Isle (Gulf of St. Lawrence)
Blanc-Sablon is a remote Transport Canada public port facility on the Lower North Shore of Quebec, at the entrance to the Strait of Belle Isle near the Labrador border, serving a community where marine transportation is a primary mode of access. The wharf is used to supply local inhabitants with general goods and petroleum products, handling roughly 14,000 tonnes of cargo annually, and it docks fishing longliners and trawlers alongside ferry and coastal traffic. It is the western terminus of the seasonal Strait of Belle Isle passenger/vehicle ferry to St. Barbe, Newfoundland (operated by Labrador Marine Inc.) and a port of call for the Relais Nordik coastal cargo/passenger service from Rimouski. The facility is owned by Transport Canada and overseen by its Quebec Region office.
