Port of Victoria
Victoria, BC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Victoria Harbour (Inner, Middle and Upper Harbour), from the Ogden Point Breakwater to the Selkirk Trestle
The Port of Victoria is a federal public port owned and administered by Transport Canada, extending across Victoria Harbour from the Ogden Point Breakwater to the Selkirk Trestle (Inner, Middle and Upper Harbours). It is Canada's only combined certified water airport and port, handling a dense mix of traffic: roughly 100 floatplane flights daily (about 30,000 per year via the Victoria Harbour Water Airport, Canada's busiest), over 250 cruise ship visits annually at Ogden Point, plus passenger ferries, tugs, barges, recreational boats and kayaks. Transport Canada's Harbour Master (Mariah McCooey) runs day-to-day vessel traffic management, safety and emergency planning under the long-standing Port of Victoria Traffic Scheme, while port facilities and marinas have been progressively divested to operators such as the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority, which runs five marinas and the Ogden Point cruise terminal.
