False Bay (Lasqueti Island)

Lasqueti Island, BC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Strait of Georgia (Salish Sea)

False Bay is a Transport Canada-owned remote public port on the west side of Lasqueti Island in British Columbia's Strait of Georgia, listed under Transport Canada's Pacific Region as a remote facility serving a community where marine transportation is the primary mode of access. The facility consists of a small public float offering limited dock space plus a floatplane tie-up, and it serves as the island terminus of the foot-passenger-only Lasqueti Island Ferry, which runs across the strait from French Creek (Qualicum Beach) on Vancouver Island. The ferry route is operated by Western Pacific Marine under contract to BC Ferries; the public float itself is small and exposed, with strong summer "Qualicum" winds making tie-up difficult and most nearby anchoring space taken by private buoys. It handles community marine access and small-vessel/floatplane traffic rather than commercial cargo.
