The Port of Valleyfield is a multimodal commercial cargo port on the Beauharnois section of the St. Lawrence Seaway (Lake Saint-Francis), about 60 km southwest of Montreal, operated by the Société du Port de Valleyfield, a paramunicipal corporation of the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It has 8 berths over 1,106 metres, including four general-cargo berths, one liquid-bulk berth with 32 storage tanks (50,000 m3 total), and a roll-on/roll-off ramp, handling roughly 308,000 tonnes of cargo annually. Commodities include sulfuric acid, steel, bitumen/asphalt, bauxite, zinc concentrate and calcine, industrial and road salt, stone slag, lumber, big bags and containers, and it serves as a sealift staging point for Nunavik and Nunavut communities. The site has direct rail access to the CN, CP and CSX networks reaching across Canada and the United States.
