Pointe-au-Père (Rimouski)

Rimouski, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · St. Lawrence Estuary (Lower St. Lawrence)

Pointe-au-Père is a small Transport Canada-owned local/regional public port facility (a wharf/jetty) located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence Estuary, about 10 km east of Rimouski in the Pointe-au-Père district. The current jetty, completed in 2008, replaced an older wharf and restored public sea access for residents; the site serves recreational boating, public/vehicle access, and small-craft use rather than commercial cargo handling. Historically the point hosted a marine pilot station (1905-1959) and a winter port with vehicle and cargo ferry service to the North Shore (1959-1970). The facility is owned by Transport Canada (Quebec Region) and is listed as available for transfer under the federal Ports Asset Transfer Program (PATP); no commercial terminal operator or tenant was identified.
