Neptune Bulk Terminals is a private bulk export terminal on the north shore of Burrard Inlet in North Vancouver, within the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (Port of Vancouver) jurisdiction. Operating since 1968 on a 29-hectare (71-acre) site plus water lots, it handles two dry-bulk commodities for international export: Canadian potash from Saskatchewan and steelmaking (metallurgical) coal from British Columbia. The terminal runs 24/7 across three daily shifts, unloading unit trains and loading bulk ships, with current capacity around 23.5 million tonnes per year and an expansion toward 30 million tonnes. It is co-owned by two of its primary shippers, Canpotex Bulk Terminals Limited and Elk Valley Resources (the former Teck Resources steelmaking coal business).
