Migasha-Ouest (Miguasha) Wharf
Nouvelle (Miguasha), Gaspésie, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Baie des Chaleurs (Chaleur Bay)
The Migasha-Ouest (Miguasha) wharf is a small local/regional port facility on the north shore of the Baie des Chaleurs in the municipality of Nouvelle, Gaspésie, owned by Transport Canada (Quebec Region) and listed on its Ports Asset Transfer Program (PATP) roster. For over a century the wharf served as the terminal for a ferry connecting Miguasha to Dalhousie, New Brunswick, until that service ended in 1996; Transport Canada has not invested in it since, and the structure has been condemned and closed to the public (including pedestrians) for more than 20 years due to collapse risk. There is no active commercial cargo or marine operation at the site. As of 2025-2026 Transport Canada and the Municipality of Nouvelle were finalizing a transfer agreement (expected to close late 2025, with provincial approval in spring 2026 and possible redevelopment work in summer 2026) that would hand ownership to the municipality along with federal funds to renovate, reconfigure and maintain the infrastructure for 30 years for recreational/tourism use (pedestrian walkway, demolition of the corroded outer section, possible boat launch; no marina planned).
