Holyrood Thermal Generating Station Marine Terminal (NL Hydro oil terminal)
Holyrood, NL · Private · Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro · Conception Bay (head of the bay), Holyrood, Newfoundland
A private commercial petroleum-receiving (oil-only) marine terminal owned and operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro to supply the adjacent Holyrood Thermal Generating Station, an oil-fired ~490-500 MW plant on the head of Conception Bay. The terminal has a single jetty/berth (limiting criteria: max 10.67 m draft, up to 200 m LOA, ~55,000 DWT, max displacement 40,000 t) where shuttle tankers discharge No. 6 fuel oil through two 12-inch cargo arms (max discharge pressure 125 psi); vessels berth starboard-side alongside, daylight-only, with max arrival draft ~35 ft SW. Pilotage (Atlantic Pilotage Authority) is compulsory, 96-hour pre-arrival ECAREG notice is required, and the ship's agent is Canadian Maritime Agency Limited; no bunkers or fresh water are available at the berth. NOTE: the lead URL (tides.gc.ca station 830) is the discontinued "Long Harbour" tide station, not Holyrood; and the separate "Holyrood Marine Base" is a Memorial University Marine Institute ocean research/training facility (breakwater, wharf, Oceans Research and Training Building) at South Arm of Holyrood Bay, distinct from this NL Hydro oil terminal.
