Woodfibre LNG Terminal

Squamish, BC · Private · Woodfibre LNG Limited Partnership · Howe Sound

Woodfibre LNG is a marine-access-only liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal under construction (substantial completion targeted Q3 2027) on the former Woodfibre pulp-and-paper mill site about 7 km southwest of Squamish, BC, on the west side of Howe Sound. It is designed to liquefy and export approximately 2.1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG, with ~250,000 m³ of floating storage provided by two converted LNG carriers used as floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessels, loading visiting LNG carriers for export. The facility is powered by renewable hydroelectricity (electric-drive liquefaction), marketed as among the lowest carbon-intensity / "net zero" LNG export facilities in the world. It is privately owned by the Woodfibre LNG Limited Partnership (Pacific Energy Corporation 70%, Enbridge 30%) and operated by Woodfibre Management Ltd.; it is not within a Canada Port Authority.
