Pasbebiac (Paspébiac)
Paspébiac, QC · Transport Canada · Transport Canada · Baie des Chaleurs (Chaleur Bay)
Pasbebiac (spelled "Pasbébiac" on the Transport Canada roster; the town is Paspébiac) is a federal public port on the north shore of Baie des Chaleurs in the Gaspésie region of Quebec, about 195 km southwest of Gaspé. The site has two parallel quays: the inner one belongs to Fisheries and Oceans Canada, while the outer deep-water quay is owned and maintained by Transport Canada. The Transport Canada quay is the only deep-water wharf in the sector accessible year-round and has historically supported commercial fishing and other marine commercial activity. It is in poor structural condition — the protective breakwater is cracking — and was closed to vehicles in 2022 and to pedestrians in 2025 for safety; Transport Canada is analyzing options including a possible property transfer (the port appears on the Ports Asset Transfer Program list), though the municipality opposes municipalization.
